Throughout the year we offer a variety of Health Education Workshops. Programs have included:
- Through a UJA Federation grant and in partnership with the New Jewish Home, Mount Sinai School of Medicine has worked with MRHS on various issues related to aging in a program called Mind Matters.
- Partnering with the Community DentCare Network Elder Smile Program and hosted a health promotion event sponsored by Columbia University's College of Dental Medicine. Columbia specialists presented a workshop on oral health, diabetes and high blood pressure. After the workshop free dental, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, and dental referrals, were conducted by a Columbia dentist in our offices.
- Mount Sinai Medical Center presented a workshop on defining a stroke and determining the signs of a stroke.
- Faith Schwartz, a licensed massage therapist and a nurse, gave a demonstration and talk on the benefits of massage therapy for older adults.
- Resveratrol Study. Dr. Jane Martin and Helene Geramian of Mount Sinai Hospital led a discussion about cutting-edge memory research, including the Resveratrol study, as well as current ideas about memory and aging well.
