Holds an A.B. degree in Psychology from Brown University and an Ed.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University in International Educational Development/Health Education. Served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Medic/Social Worker Specialist for the 331st. General Hospital. Worked at the Institute of International Education in NYC as Program Administrator on various science, health and agricultural projects for East and West Pakistan. Also employed by World Education as Program Officer for Near East and South Asia on their "Functional Education for Family Life Planning" program. Retired from Montclair State University where he served for many years as Deputy Department Chair and then as Department Chair of Health Professions.

Retired from NYC Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications. Former Attorney licensed to practice in NYS. Currently the Board Co-Chair for the William H. Ryan Community Health Network; Secretary of Advocates for Children on New York, and board member on the Chelsea-Clinton Ryan Community Health Center. She resided in Morningside Gardens from 1956-1978 and returned in 2016.
